Lake Erie and Ohio’s other lakes, rivers and streams are important sources of drinking water and provide countless recreational opportunities. Unfortunately, many of our waterways are suffering from sewage pollution, mercury contamination and runoff pollution from nearby urban and agricultural lands. Environment Ohio advocates stronger enforcement of clean water laws as well as strengthening laws that will result in less pollution and greater public notification about the quality of waterways in local communities.
