Welcome to Environment Ohio, the new home of Ohio PIRG’s environmental work.
With your support, we are continuing to use the same creative, result-oriented approach to our state’s environmental problems that has made such an important difference over the years. With a clear name and a single-minded focus, we expect to make an even bigger impact on the environmental issues that you and I care about.
Meanwhile, our friends at Ohio PIRG continue to offer a strong and independent voice for the public on major issues such as health care reform, identity theft, government waste and more.
In November, we launched Environment Ohio with the release of our first major report, “Ohio’s Wind Energy Future,” featured on page one of this newsletter and covered by the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Toledo Blade, Associated Press and numerous television stations.
Faced with a set of seemingly daunting energy problems, our researchers found cause for hope in our state’s potential to meet more of our energy needs through clean, renewable, homegrown power.
Whether these hopes are realized depends in large part on our newly elected governor and our new Legislature. By the time you read this letter, Environment Ohio staff will have held meetings with other energy experts, farming advocates, business leaders, environmental advocates, reporters, editorial board members, legislators and their staff, and more—all in the interest of transforming our vision into real change that enhances the quality of our environment and our lives.
Your generous support funds this work. Your e-mails, calls and letters make it more powerful and effective. Together, we’re adding a strong new voice to the debate about energy and the environment in Ohio. Thank you for helping to make all our voices heard.
