DP&L to build largest solar facility in SW Ohio (new window)

Dayton Power and Light (DP&L) announced Wednesday plans to build a the largest solar facility in Southwest Ohio.

The 1.1 megawatt facility will be constructed in Washington Township, south of Dayton, by a coalition of regional contractors led by Ameridian Specialty Services Inc. of Cincinnati. Ameridian’s team also includes Square D/Schneider Electric of West Chester.

When completed, the $5 million array will consist of 9,000 panels, cover seven acres and power nearly 150 homes.

Construction on the facility, in Montgomery County, is slated to begin this month and be completed by March 2010.

Ameridian Specialty Services is a full-service general contracting firm that specializes in commercial roofing. The company was named a Business Courier Fast 55 finalist this year.

Square D is a unit of France-based Schneider Electric SA, with a distributor in West Chester.
